I've been wanting to recreate the Mother Earth piece I had done about 3 years ago, on my way out of the city. She was originally created in a frenzy. But now I want to become her. Anyhow, the process is a bit long. I'm about to go into the second set of it. [Do you ever just have so much planned in your head, and you feel stuck you can't move. Gahh, I have that problem often. Then you have to slap yourself and stop being such a stagnate baby.] This is my wee little work space. I have 6 full days of working at a day job.- so everything will have to be done in pieces. Once I get my time management down.? Not a trait, I carry naturally. grrrrr. Yep, her head is on that table top. I use a lead pipe to hold the foam head, while I work on it. I use that head for everything! I used a headband for a base, cut and glued a styrofoam head front piece to the band. Fixed the form with some plaster bandages, the get an even concave shape. What you see here, is just the beginning. I'm a little bad a taking time out to take photos of every step. I stuck twigs into the styrofoam and used the bandages to hold the form. Santa wig attached to back of styrofoam piece. More more more more more more more to come...~ Oh yeah! I'll be wearing this headpiece!?

I've had the great honor of working with Kelly Kotulak whose fascinating jewelry www.etsy.com/shop/Hibernacula I was asked to model and have a full swing in the makeup creations. I was really exciting firstly to work with her, when she mentioned it a few months back for a steampunk event in DUMBO back in October. But unfortunately at that time I was held hostage due to Halloween duties - so I wasn't really happy with the work I did for that show. ALthough, her work of course was fantastic. So, I had another chance to try out the makeup creation for another event. The Anachronism event. With a second chance, I thought the jewelery needed to be highlighted throughout the imagery of the body. So, I took inspiration from the jewelry pieces for each individual and spread that imagery out onto the face. To allow the eye see the body as one image with a focal point on the jewelry. All makeup was done in a 30 minute time limit. Yikes! Pressure! Always, leads to best outcomes? All the makeup I use comes from the Costume Shoppe I work at including "Ben Nye"-cremes, & "Kryolan"-water based makeup. + makeup from Miss X cosmetics including loose pigments, shadows, and brushes. The first shot at this idea was on myself, of course. She had created the jewelry pieces according to what she thought the muses brought forth. For the pieces I'm wearing, she made a "stomacher" that slid down the front of my sternum that hooked and chained to the dress. It was made to be moved in a serpentine wavelength. Each and every piece was hand wired and twisted. The center of each piece had a colorful spectrum of reds/ turqouises/ and browns. I used the colors and patterns for replication on my forehead. Wires interpeted as vines throughout the top half of my head. Eyes draw to forehead to eyes to jewels. Next was Anne Roig a creator of images herself [photography].She was wearing the muse of eyes. Jewelry made of various colored eyeballs chained. I used the colors in the eyes to match Anne eyes. To make the eyes a focal point I used heavy drapery in the form of feathers and lace. Using medical adhesive, best to use this when wearing heavier items. Next was Xenia: She was wearing the muse of hands. I used the shadows of the hand jewelry and replicated that onto either side of her face. To simulate hands closing in towards the middle of the face. Next was Mark Robinson a rather amazing illustrator and graphic designer. : Muse of nails and thoughts. I match the form on the halo with gold flakes, and a tanned creme based color on foreground. Next was the maker herself, Kelly. I used a lace pattern and brown earth tones to match. We where late at this point, so I only was able to spend 15 minutes on her makeup. But I think it turned out good? Kelly and I And complete! What a great team! Amazing artist abound! Art for arts sake! & Visions for the dreamy~ Group shot below. By: Robert Smith Next episode, coming soon!

Caught in a moment of frenzy, atypical emotion, trying to keep my sanity together by focusing on sculpting a new figure. But to try and make it wearable. Here came lady zombie, I felt a rough wind in her hair - gapping jaw - half eaten flesh. Her ability to stand in place, whilst the world is crumbling down around her. Which makes me think of that moment in [cheesy, I know!] that moment in Terminator [Hey, I'm a child of the 80s] ..okay, in Terminator when Linda Hamilton is standing in a playground and the world get blown to bits by a nuclear bomb. She holds onto the chain-link fence - the air gusts and blows her flesh off. www.youtube.com/watchGoing through every moment, feeling every ache, and listening to every bit of silence and death. Does it matter that there is no one around to feel her pain, does it change anything. No. She stands and holds onto that fence. Anyhow, making this piece felt a little like that. I had nothing to think about, too much to think about. But in that moment in time and space, I had to make her. Summer melting my body, pressures of ever changing life to deal with. She saved me in that moment. I was also really in awe of bird skulls at the time, so I made a bird skull to fit onto her head. Hair is curly and blowing in the gusty wind. I wanted the hair to be very dramatic - as if she’d been through some shit, but at the same time very well put together. Some roses go into her hair. I wanted the neck to be slender and unusually long. I needed bone features in the neck and chest. The other half of chest I textured to look like meat tendons. I know, gross* But what are you going to do? A few days passed, she was complete. It was time to place her into the oven. Now for the boring part. The explanation of how and such... Well, if your familiar with Super Sculpey - this stuff is supreme! Numero uno to moi. Always and forever have I cooked it for 20 minutes no problem at a 250º temperature. Okay, so I place her in for about 3 minutes. I check back, and I smell something. Open the oven, and there’s a white smoke coming out! Holy f*ck what! Her flesh was truly black as pitch, skin boiling, and steaming with white smoke! What!* This had never ever happened to me, ever! It just goes to show, I’m sure it had to do with what kind of energy I thrust upon it. Gee, be careful what you are thinking when you are doing something so fragile. I almost threw this girl out the window, I was fuming with anger for it becoming such .... shit. I remained calm and put her in a box. And ran outside to clear my head. A few days later, I come back to her and picked off all of her new boils. I will not let 2 days work get wasted! Went to my favorite store [The Complet Sculptor] and talked to Jessica about my boiled girl problem. Obtained some heavy duty candle wax, to remake her - etc. I guess, you don’t want to here the rest of ‘that’ process. Needless to say, I eventually made her new. Took off the remainder of human, and made her fully skeletal. She wasn’t meant to be fully human?! Finally done with the master sculpture. Onto process 3: Molding the master. Brush on rubber silicone, fairly easy. About 3 coats of that. 60 minutes between each drying time. Always remember to make a wall around the master. Expensive stuff to waste. Got to keep it to a minimal. Waste none. Bright orange mold. Peeled that sucker off. + Magic! A supreme master mold. Process 4: Pouring casting agent. Which for me is made by The Compleat Sculptor. [They have their own brand of mixtures!] Ahhhh! I’m in love with that store! ---- Which is black polyurethane casting resin. Basically a very sturdy black hard plastic. Mix equal portions, pour into ready mold - eyeballing the small pockets. This stuff gets hot, hot, hott! Very cool. Leave alone for about 1 hour. It says 20 min. But..... you don’t want to risk it. Finally, when cool. Pop this supreme baby out! And she is alive, and reborn! That is the boring story of how LADY ZOMBIE CAMEO came to be. You just never know what a person puts into a piece of art. Everything you see out there in the world, has a story. Some blood, sweat, and tears. So please appreciate the art you see. It doesn’t come without a price. Most often, artist bleed to get their vision across. Digestion is recommended, with the utmost understanding and imagination of what happened behind the scenes. There is life in it all. Here she is: With Rosie Modeling. This piece can be found here: www.etsy.com/listing/57971177/lady-zombie-cameo-silver |

. The smell of pumpkin and cloves is in the air, I long to feel the mud in my feet. Red and orange leaves as no one from the West would see, it always fascinates me. The complete change. Every electron in my body is filled with excitement. I feel as if I’m a just waking up from a long summer’s slumber. A summer of sweat, tears, blood, triumph, and more passion for art then ever before. I cannot live without it, although I’ve not breached any of it. Pumpkin, pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon, fires, and cold grey skies - my favorite time of year. Yet I can not enjoy the stillness of it..... not yet. Spiced red wine fills my tongue, with sweet memories. Running through the cemetery’s, trees, and highways with the skeletal partner of times past. He rest deep inside my caged heart. . . On many hurried nights and days trudging through the thickness of what we call life. I was given an opportunity to create something amazing for someone who believed I could accomplish such a feat. Jordana, thank you for giving me the time and opportunity to work on the incredible project I must not speak of. It inspired me to explore alternative ways into creation. During this workshop time, Karl Von Rock was inspired to pick up where his band had left off on a line of “Horror Hawks,” they had created many years ago. To pickup this idea of alternative fashion, and inject it into what I had been creating. And together we designed and breathed life into what we now call, “The Glitch Hawk.” I wouldn’t have been able to do this project so smoothly if Karl hadn’t been there through the whole process, engineering the construction and layout. The beauty of skeletons always inspire me, I thought to delve a little into the shape of bird skulls. They are so elegant and regal in stature, I used that as the focal line going up and down to substitute for what might have been a pelvic bone. The majority of the design was inspired by bones- –human construction. Vertebrae are so vastly fascinating, the necessity of it and the life it carries, the repetition and control. The form was of course based on the spike. As a final touch we used actual diodes in between the open space. The bases [were the spike connects to the strap] were actual circuit boards we found on the street. Once this master was sculpted I had to figure out, how the hell to mold it. Brush on Rubber Silicone you’re my savior! That and then flexible poly urethane foam wow this stuff is incredible. So many ideas from this. Then to pouring, took a bit of time to get used to this system. Lot’s of poking, prodding, and bleeding. The mold is so intricate and not easy to keep in shape without ripping or tugging at an important diode. So, I eventually figured I’d have to cut down the middle of the rubber silicone mold. Surgery time. After that was done. Sort of easy sailing from there. Sort of, I said. Then came figuring out what the hell you could the paint foam with, without the paint ripping off from moisture, wear and tear. I had a little love for black liquid latex on my body. I use it often, and thought I should try it to seal the acrylic paint I had put on it. It worked, I had a few minor details to attend to but hey it all worked out! ...... Here’s the black one, with Karl [Zoog] modeling.... www.etsy.com/listing/57859374/black-glitch-hawkAnd the silver gun metal version: www.etsy.com/listing/57852760/silver-glitch-hawkYou can see the diodes in this one! Also I have the incredible honor to work with Michael Gwilliam for these photoshoots lowereastphoto.com/www.lowereastphoto.com/galleries.html.. |

I found myself looking for my very comfortable brown pod, that rested atop tree roots - hugging the bottom of the large tree. I slipped into the pod and covered myself in it's covers. While I lay staring at the sky. The sky is beyond real and beautiful. I stare deep into it's outer limits. There are fixed clouds that at one moments time shift and melt into each other. While they are doing this, they open a clear spot in the sky. Which reveals to me a bright shining star. The entire sky is a smokey autumn redish orange tone, with undertones of violet. I felt the tree was trying to tell me not to worry for it will look after me, and to only relax and see what is right in front of me - but i just only need to clear my mind to see it. Thank you, for the message. Received and contemplated.

This is my very very latest doll artwork from last week. She is nearly finished! I had to stop work on her to work on a costume. Which I'll be posting picture's of that - once I can manage to have a photo shoot with it.She's flowing out of a tinderbox. She was formally the girl on the right. Same doll. But I felt that she wasn't supposed to be that way. She didn't look right to me. So, unfortunately I had to strip her down. I painted her eyeballs, made her brand new hair. Which I love, in the back there rests an egg with a bird inside. This sculpture is completely 3 dimensional. Her name is Mourning Songbird. She is the mother of songbirds, but she is caught in a moment of distraught and contemplation. A large bird holds onto her waist, trying to grab her attention. But she is too lost in her head to notice. She covered in nature, as she represents the mother of creation and nurturing. She stands on a velvet tinderbox with pearls, flowing out of a tiny hole. White blossoms leaves surround her body. Her bodice is made of clay, arms are wire, head is clay, eyes are marbles, real human hair painted, and natural elemental adornments. Once she is checked over, and approved by me - I will be posting her for purchase!

This journal is to keep my creation process flowing and to encourage others as well as myself to keep on going. Life is hard and quite interesting, and the struggle to keep believing in one's art in a constant - at least for me. I've never kept a blog of any kind, but I thought it would be useful to start one. I do need to remind myself to finish projects once they are started. I'm getting a bit sorted out now, as far as the basics of life - ie. home/work/art/stuff. So, I'm going back into all the little dolls I've made over the past year. They have been soooo sad now, waiting for some attention. And I hear their cry. I will make them whole. And once they are done, I would like to release them into a caretaker's loving and beautiful home; in which could be admired and fuel inspiration - to extend the creative vibes to those who embrace them. In turn, this will make my heart happy. As I only live to create, if I can not create - I too will die...
